Reasons People Stop Meditating (Text)

You are doing a great job! I know in my goal oriented mind, it was so really hard for me to connect with the concept of "meditation" not being a goal. WHAT???
As humans we are so hard wired to being connected to a goal, that this concept doesn't make sense. I wanted to offer a few thoughts around why people stop meditating so you would be aware of some
of the common reasons.
My intention is to share these so you can be aware and know that you may not be alone if these come up while you are creating your consistent practice.
1. Restlessness - sitting still makes you feel uneasy. Try moving around until you are comfortable or try different locations. Be sure your chair, floor or cushion, if you use one, gives you the support you need.
2. Sleepiness - sitting makes you feel sleepy. Try drinking water before you sit and saying out loud, "I am ready to engage in my meditation with alert awareness."
3. Doubt - what good is this doing? Yes, is very common to think that. Since meditation is not a goal, what good is it if I don't have something tangible to show in the end? I have learned that it is not in my meditation time but because of the consistency of the practice that I have gained better regulation over my emotions, feel more connected to my PGS and I have learned how to be more available to be with things that are uncomfortable.
These are just a few reasons that people don't meditate.
